Questo è il più antico pub sulle rive del Tamigi. Quando mi sono informato sul quartiere di Wapping ho letto anche dell’Execution Dock e di come questo pub abbia lo abbia riprodotto. In più qui si trova un photo-point, proprio sotto un pontile.
This is the oldest pub on the banks of the Thames. When I found out about the Wapping neighborhood I also read about the Execution Dock and how this pub has reproduced it. In addition, here is a photo-point, just below a pier.
Il Prospect of Whitby è un pub storico sulle rive del Tamigi a Wapping, nel Borough di Tower Hamlets a Londra. Rivendica di essere il luogo ove sorge la più antica taverna sul fiume, databile intorno al 1520. Secondo la leggenda, i criminali sarebbero stati legati ai pali durante la bassa marea e lasciati lì per annegare, quando la marea si fosse alzata. Il pontile delle esecuzioni – l’Execution Dock – era in realtà situato presso le Wapping Old Stairs ed usato per i pirati.
Prospect of Whitby is a historic pub on the banks of the Thames in Wapping, in the Borough of Tower Hamlets in London. It claims to be the place where the oldest tavern on the river rises, dating back to around 1520. According to legend, the criminals were tied to the poles during low tide and left there to drown, when the tide had risen. The execution dock – the Execution Dock – was actually located at the Wapping Old Stairs and used for pirates.
